Leura is the Blue Mountains day that still has room to breathe. The village leans into gardens, cafés and a slightly softer tourist tempo than Katoomba’s coach loop — while still sitting on the same escarpment story of sandstone cliffs and valley haze.
Use it when you want lookouts and a walk without treating Echo Point as the only legitimate “Blue Mountains moment.” Many visitors combine both: icons at Katoomba, reset in Leura, or the reverse if morning parking is ugly.

Gordon Falls and nearby cliff viewpoints give Jamison Valley drama with a different crowd pattern than Echo Point. Short lookout stops work well for families; longer cliff-edge walking toward Katoomba is optional and should be planned as a real walk with turnaround points.

Leura is one of the best “parking is full, keep the day alive” bases. If Katoomba lots are jammed, pivot to Gordon Falls and village pacing rather than circling Echo Point in a bad mood. You still get cliff air and sandstone; you just change the hero postcard.
