Gear essentials for the Blue Mountains

Cliff weather is not Sydney beach weather. Prioritise grip, water, layers and rain protection over gadgets. Upper lookouts (Echo Point, Govetts Leap) are windier and cooler than the CBD; sandstone steps get slick after rain or mist. Hard stair days need more water and honesty about fitness — soft lookout days still need a shell.
